FREE STYLE POEMS

    💥Free style Poems💥

A free verse poem, also known as a vers libre, is a poem that lacks all of the above. It has no defined meter, no consistent rhyme scheme, and no specified length or formal requirements. Because of this, a free verse poem follows its own internal logic.

Walt Whitman, ‘Song of Myself’.

I celebrate myself, and sing myself,
And what I assume you shall assume,
For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you.
I loafe and invite my soul,
I lean and loafe at my ease observing a spear of summer grass …

America had its own rich poetic tradition in the nineteenth century, and the development of poetry in the United States had a different trajectory. The poetry of Walt Whitman is summed up by his long, sprawling poem ‘Song of Myself’, which seems to embody his call for literary independence and self-expression. When Whitman’s 1855 volume Leaves of Grass was published at Whitman’s own expense – the first edition containing just a dozen untitled poems – ‘Song of Myself’ headed the collection. This statement of selfhood contains the famous line ‘I am large, I contain multitudes’.

HER SMILE IS A ROSE

Her smile is a rose
a fairy light in my garden
yellow roses, wildflowers
silvery aria whispers in wind
like church bells tinkling faraway
I see luminous amber eyes
stars falling from night skies

Her ivory hands fold swan like

silk tapestry gown settles like mist
pink sunset creeps across my canvas
sun fades in shadows like a veil
feather brush strokes paints a kiss
I capture autumn goddess hues
in archipelago moonlight

Pastel colors of mona lisa,
spin tales in clouds behind a silhouette
leonardo's venus calls to me,
Raphael, botticellli lily
lotus flower blooms as we gaze
blue butterfly flutters awhile
upon the pathway of her smile

MOSCOW BIRDS

Memories of you
flying around in my thoughts
feathery visions of chamber quartets
dusky nights in moscow bars
grey goose vodka and cavier
waltzing at midnight in red square

My blue lace dress floated
as you spun me around in snowfall
we shared the street
like two turtledoves
dancing then kisses
breathless in starlight

Silver moon shadows drifted
my silver bird
took off into clouds
over the Caspian sea
I remembered lovesongs
and redbirds in December

It's Raining Dreams

it's raining dreams

  showers flood my heart
        Im soaked
      in golden moonbeams

no matter the clouds of grey
    you drench my darkest day
with pink iridescent
              raindrops of love

Thoughts and words you say
drip diamonds and opals
like a dozen yellow roses
passion flowers every day

In dawn's hours you come to me
place kisses on my lips
spin dreams of love's delights
from across the deepest sea
